Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Usap ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Tagalog language learning application ("the App"). By using Usap, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. What Data We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the App:

  • Name (optional) — Only if you choose to create an account or set a display name.
  • Learning progress — Words learned, mastery levels, spaced repetition data, session history, and streak information.
  • Subscription status — Your current plan (free, monthly, yearly, or lifetime) and subscription state.
  • Device information — Device type, operating system, browser type, and screen resolution for compatibility and analytics purposes.
2. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Personalization — Tailoring your learning experience based on your progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Progress tracking — Saving your learning data so you can pick up where you left off across sessions and devices.
  • Analytics — Understanding how the App is used to improve content, fix issues, and develop new features.
3. Data Storage

Local storage: Your learning progress and preferences are stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. This data remains on your device and is accessible only through your browser.

Cloud sync (optional): If you create an account, your data may be synced to the cloud via Supabase to enable cross-device access. Cloud sync is optional, and you can use the App entirely offline with local storage only.

4. Third-Party Services

Usap integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Text-to-Speech (TTS) — Used to generate audio pronunciations of Tagalog words and phrases. Audio requests may be processed by Google's servers.
  • Stripe — Used to securely process subscription payments. We do not store your payment card details; Stripe handles all payment information directly.
  • Supabase — Used for user authentication and optional cloud data synchronization. Account credentials are managed securely by Supabase.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store — Used for in-app purchases on mobile platforms. These transactions are processed directly by Apple or Google.
  • Formsubmit.co — Used to process user feedback submitted through the App. Feedback form submissions are handled by Formsubmit and delivered to our email.
5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.

Your data is shared only with payment processors (Stripe, Apple, or Google) as necessary to complete subscription transactions. We may also share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes, which cannot be used to identify you personally.

6. Children's Privacy

Usap is designed to be suitable for learners of all ages. We do not display targeted advertising or engage in behavioral tracking of children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete such information.

Our practices comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data and learning progress for as long as your account is active, or until you request deletion.

You may delete all of your data at any time from within the App's settings. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers. Locally stored data can be cleared by clearing your browser data.

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — You can request corrections to any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Deletion — You can request the deletion of your personal data at any time. You can also delete your data directly from the App settings.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit and secure storage practices. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last updated" date above.

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
